Teacher Training
Partner with Schools inspires Leaders to inspire students. We show you how to maintain a well-trained team of instructors who not only teach on character but also demonstrate it in the classroom. We help you to educate, engage and elevate students by inspiring them to be all they can be. Our training sessions cover both content teaching as well as classroom management strategies.
Child Protection Training
- Every teacher completes an application before being approved for the classroom.
- A thorough criminal and sex offender background check plus reference check are performed on every volunteer.
- Every facilitator and teacher in the classroom is required to complete training on child protection.
- A child protection policy has to be reviewed every year by all volunteers.
- Training will cover attendance and dismissal procedures according to school requirements.
Classroom Management Strategies
These and many other strategies will be covered in detail in our Teacher Training:
- Partner with Schools utililzes various tools to keep the class entertaining: short videos, music time with movements, skits, object lessons, classroom instruction, small groups, activities, discussion, and games.
- After large group instruction, small group leaders gather students in groups to connect and dig deeper with age-specific, apply-to-life activities.
- Alternate between sitting still for a lesson and standing up for a quick game, song, or verse memorization.
- Adjust your instructional time to the attention span of your students. You can pull the youngest ones out for an early small group.
- Keep students busy at all times. Plan every minute of your class time. Downtime is when students get out of hand.
- Use an interactive teaching style to keep students' interest. This also enhances comprehension and allows teaching toward specific needs within the class. But be prepared to manage the questions and keep students on the topic. Reign in the talkers and encourage quiet students to express themselves.
- Bear in mind that this is the end of a long day; keep things fun; students love to learn in the right environment; Jesus did not just preach, he used parables, stories, games (like drawing in the sand) to convey his message. His respect and love for people carried the message.
- Reward good behavior via positive reinforcement. Students respond most to love and encouragement. You might also consider having a treasure chest etc. for good behavior. Have unruly students sit next to you and staff. Be loving but firm, or each week will get more and more out of hand.
- Play a fun game after the instructional time or do a fun song with students moving around. Always provide a short opportunity to move after a period of sitting.
- Make a game out of the review questions. You can do much reinforcement of the lesson when you ask students the review questions.
Content Teaching
- Partner with Schools will thoroughly cover the lessons during the September and January Teacher Training.
- We use the CharacterCounts! curriculum along with Free Bible Images Curriculum. (www.freebibleimages.org)
- We encourage teachers not to discuss doctrinal divisions. We want to stay focused on sharing God's love and helping students find their identity and self worth.
- Counselors tell us that teachers just don't have enough time to teach on character education and that they welcome our teaching.
